So I debated posting this photo...I don't want to offend anyone, but my sweet Lucy {or Lulu as I call her} was standing patiently to get her sunblock applied and it dawned on me. This is probably the last time we will go to the pool since summer is winding down and school has started. I love Lucy's tutu swimsuit and next year when she wears a swimsuit she will be one year older and less baby like.....oh my little girl is getting to big to fast.
I love to collect vintage chocolate boxes and I have quite a few of them. I bought this one a couple of months ago and I think she is so pretty....don't you?
I didn't think I would have time to post this week but I will squeeze one quick one in. I embellished this lace handbag over the weekend to bring to Jenn's event. I thought it would be a perfect for prairie fairytale event.
Last night I made this bib necklace to wear to Jenn's event in October. I never made this type of necklace before but I thought I would give it a try and I like how it turned out, until......My husband took one look at me wearing it and said what is that? I said it was a necklace for Jenn's event and he said you are wearing that? Gees, he made me think twice about my little creation. Normally, he doesn't say much when I create things, he just says ya, that is nice and that is about it, but with this little beauty he made a big deal on me actually wearing it. So, I am going to ask you guys....do you like it?
I am going to combine two posts into one since I am going to be a single Mom all next week {travelling husband} and I don't think I am going to have any time to myself. I told you last weekend we went to Eureka Springs and here are some of the photos of the cute town.
Have a great week and wish me luck with working full time and managing THREE kids...I am tired already thinking about it.
Our girls start school tomorrow and we wanted to take a little family road trip before the hustle and bustle starts all over again. We decided to go to Eureka Springs, AR for the day {it is an eclectic artist community/victorian homes..not sure how else to describe it. I will post some photos on my next post} there are great places to eat, shop and fun spots to take photos. We stopped in Something Simple, it is a lovely shop with amazing vintage papers {the antique papers are just on display....I desperately tried to buy everything I photographed but NONE of it was for sale} and new and antique decor. When I walked in the owner, Kaylene Shepard had this all over her counter....a girl after my own heart.
My husband and children waited patiently for me while I was talking to Kaylene.
I am off to get the kids ready for their big day tomorrow....
I was cleaning up my little craft space {trying to stay organized} and I piled up some lovely bits of sparkle on my dining room table to put away and it was too pretty to not take a photo of it.
I almost forgot that I had these postcards.....don't you love when you are cleaning up and you find a treasure you completely forgot about? The image above is my favorite and don't you think it would make a great Valentines collage? Maybe I will make a little keepsake book to store all of the images..hmm, I am not sure. I love to buy old photos and some people may find it a little creepy to buy photos of people you don't know but I don't think so. I look at them and try to envision who they were and what their story was. It is such a shame that people just get rid of their family photos...Sad uh?
I just bought this ledger at a local antique shop the other day and it is filled to the brim with lovely penmanship. {There are over 700 pages filled} I have a lot of vintage ledgers and I really didn't need this one but I normally never see locally so I thought I needed to take home with me. What are the chances I would see any again...that is the discussion I had in my head to justify my purchase. Crazy right? The funny thing is, I think these ledgers are the same ones that I wanted at a local auction months ago. There were multiple ledgers at this booth and they sold them as a lot at the auction. The dealer priced them individually and I bought the best one! At the auction they ended up going to high and they weren't meant to go home with me, I guess. For the price the dealer wanted on the one I bought, it was well worth it since there are 749 pages to be exact all filled. The dealer had some smaller ones but I have so many of those and the writing wasn't great in them...anyway for the price of two smaller ledgers it would of been more than the big one I bought. See....I really am a smart shopper! The leather is pulling apart on part of the corner and I was going to glue it back, but look at the numbers that are on the cardboard inside....it looks perfect just like that. I think I will just keep it as it is.
My middle child, Lily-Grace is my crafty girl and any time I step foot in my craft closet, she is right behind me. When we were on vacation in Michigan, I brought my vintage train case that I had filled to the brim with my bits and bobs. She loves to sit at the table and rummage through all of the stuff {I guess I can't blame her} and she ALWAYS wants to use my best vintage trims and millinery flowers {she has great taste}. I finally gave in a gave her a pile of new and vintage trimmings to create something on her own. She first sketched a design of what she wanted to make and then she created it. Look at her sweet drawing {I kept it and it now hangs in my craft closet}.
It is exciting when your children's creativity flourishes in front of your eyes....
