Finished project

 

I have been busy working on projects around my house.  I feel like Mrs. Fix It....I have successfully re-upholstered on the kitchen seats (my hands are killing me), cleaned out my supply of fabrics that I have had stashed all over and now they are all in one spot and streamlined my house a bit.  I am not sure if it was the weather or I just needed to freshen up the place a bit?  I have been getting rid of stuff left and right and moving things around.  It is amazing how different your house can look by just moving things around. Oh, I also made a communion veil for Lily-Grace's up-coming communion in May.  I told my husband that I am going to quit my day job, they are so much fun to make.  Since this weekend was so busy, I haven't had any time to create anything.  Last weekend I made these journals for an up coming project with a group of girls.  I love how they turned out.

  
 
 
I will be quiet this week, I am headed to NJ for a business trip.  While I am there, I plan on stopping at Anthropologie.  I am so excited!  One more thing before I go, Lucy had her first skating lesson.  Just look at the smile on her face, she was so excited to wear her skating dress.  Her skates are so tiny and I am going to have to save them to remember how little she was when she started to skate.  The girls were so excited that their sissy is going to be out there on the ice with them.

 
 

Vintage Tutu

I normally never ever find these but I did the other day and I just love it!  There is something wonderful about the feel and touch of vintage satin and tulle.  I am sure you will all agree.

  

Little bit of happiness

There is nothing better than this.....a box filled to the brim with millinery flowers.  Oh, the projects I will make with these....the ideas are already swirling in my head.

Snowed in!

Well I am snowed in here in NW Arkansas and we have about 17" of snow on our deck and it is STILL snowing and it isn't going to stop until tonight.  Crazy uh?   The snow is past Olivia's knees and our poor dog can even make it through all of the snow.  Look at this weather map, the storm activity is right over Arkansas...I guess that sums it all up!

 
 
Look at my poor husband, he doesn't look happy does he?  he was so annoyed at me that I asked hom to pose for a photo while he was clearing the snow off of the deck.  I guess I am one of those annoying wives?  Oh well.  I hope you all stay warm whereeverr you are.

 

Latest journal of my girls

Well, I have been snowed in since Tuesday and I have pretty much been making something everyday after I am done working from home.  I am enjoying creating every day but not enjoying working from home.  After a long day of conference calls and trying to hush my children so I can squeeze in work.  I have found that creating has help me relieve some stress.  I could never work from home.....I am an office girl.  I just can't multi-task that well. I found this scrapbook that I started long before I ever had a blog and knew what a blog was.  I opened it up and I found some of these pages that were started but never finished (well maybe at the time I thought they were finished?).  Originally, I used scrapbook paper and I removed that (I am not a fan of using scrapbook paper on anything that I create) and used some old papers that I had laying around.  I love the authenticity of original papers, especially when they are worn and show their age.  What started out as cleaning up my craft closet, turned into creating this journal of images that I like to say that I rescued from myself.  I say that because my original pages I created were not great, I don't think I found myself as an artist. I guess I was just trying to figure myself out.   I know I am calling this a journal and I always seem to get emails on why I don't write in my journals that I create.....well, I am not sure?  I am not sure if I don't enjoy the process or if it is my handwriting.  If I doodled like Pam Garrison, I would doodle all over the place but I really don't want to ruin the page with my chicken scratch.  What I would like to do is when my children get older, I would love for them to write in them or maybe that will be one thing on my creative to do list....work on my lettering.  Who knows if I will open these journals up again in a few years and add on more or rescue them once again from myself.  But for now I love to create journals with images of my special girls in my life.

   
 
 
 


 
 

 

I really hate to sew......

 
I made this foo foo apron last night while I sat on the sofa last night with my husband. It is kind of funny because I was sitting with my wine making this apron and we were watching some white trash show...I am almost embarrassed to say I watched it, Storage Wars on TLC.  I couldn't stop watching it.  Enough on that!  I have to say that I really hate to sew, I mean to hand sew.  It takes so much patients and I don't like to work on one project to long.  After three broken sewing machine needles and one jammed up machine, I finally realized that I needed to hand sew this apron.  I am proud to say that it is finally done and now my mannequin looks good.  Where in the heck am I going to wear this?

 
 

P.S.  My kids have been off school since tuesday due to the snow and school is closed for tomorrow.  Oh my gosh.... It has been a long week.

A little touch of pink to brighten my day

While waiting for the big snow storm last night, I made this necklace while the fireplace was keeping me warm and the Housewives of Atlanta were keeping me company.
