I love Buttons

A couple of months ago at the flea market, I bought a large book filled with buttons.  I think it was salesmen's button catalog and I am not sure what I am going to do with it but I thought it was a fun thing to have.  Maybe, I will turn the pages into a journal since there are a lot of pages with missing buttons.  Here are a few more photos of some of the pages.

  
 On another note....Karla sent me this wonderful drawing of my daughter Lucy.  

 
Well, when my oldest daughter saw it, she thought it was the prettiest thing she has ever seen and she thought my friend was so talented (Karla is talented but it was so funny that Olivia couldn't get over how good of an artist Karla was).  So, what did she do?  She sat down and drew her own version of Karla's drawing.  Here is a photo of Olivia so proud of her drawing.

 
 
 
 

Move the pretties to higher ground!

So....I caught my sweet little Lucy dragging this boudoir doll all over the house yesterday.  (I shouldn't complain because at least she has good taste).  The time has come to move all of the pretties to higher ground.  This sweet doll was sitting on her side table next to a chair and I didn't think she could get to it but low and behold she did.  I had no clue where to put her (I couldn't put her away and not look at her) so I tied her up with some cream seam binding to Lucy's fabric covered bulletin board.  I am happy to report, she is safe and sound out of danger.  I hope it doesn't look like she is being strangled?  I figured I might as well move all of her pretties (that is what my girls call antiques) out of the way.  Here are a few snap shots from Miss Lucy's room.

 I bought this dresser a couple of weeks ago for $40.00 at the flea market, not bad uh?  It was painted the right shade of pink and I adore the floral knobs.

 Look at this photo of Lucy....we are trying to teach her how to give kisses and not keep her mouth open.  My oldest daughter took this photo, it is kind of blurry but still cute.

 

Patience is a virtue

Here is my latest collage that I made the other day....I hope you like it.  I am off today because of President's day and guess what?  I am HOME ALONE so needless to say, I am keeping this post short so I can enjoy a quiet house.

 

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day...I hope your day will be filled with love and joy. I thought I would leave you with my two favorite Valentine post cards.  Who wouldn't want to get these in the mail?  I am off to get my chores done so I can get ready for my date with my husband.

On Saturday I rounded up some girls from my work and we headed over to Bryanna's house for a jewelry class.  We all made vintage button bracelets and Bryanna was quite the host and so patient with us all asking a ton of questions on how do you do that and then explaining the same thing all over.  Everything looked SO pretty...She made some pretty fabulous home made cookies and cupcakes (I won't tell you how many I had). She even made sherbet balls to add to the yummy punch.  I was impressed! 

 

 
We started out by picking our buttons and look at her stash...Oh my!

Once we chose our buttons and Bryanna showed us how to attach them to the bracelet...we were all off to create.  The photo below is Taryn and she was so worried about having to actually make something and she was the first one done.  My friend Michelle was so excited to take Bryanna's class that she brought her own stash of bits and bobs to add to her bracelet.  I loved that the girls were excited to come.

I forgot my camera and my friend Melissa took photos and I am so bummed that I don't have many photos of Bryanna or my other friend Jennifer that came with us.   I think we were all concentrating too hard on our creations.  Below is my bracelet that I made...not to bad, uh?

vintage chocolate tin

 
I bought this vintage chocolate tin a couple of years ago and I thought I was the luckiest person to have found it for only $3.00.  Over the holidays I found a slightly smaller one and again, I thought I was the luckiest person to have found two....but you know what?  It seems like every time I go to the flea market or antique store, I keep finding more of these tin boxes with the exact same design.  Funny uh? I thought I was so special to have found two but it looks like these boxes are all over.   When I was shopping with Karla at Silver Bella we found one and I told her to buy it and I was happy that she did.  I love it so much but I don't want to many of the same thing, I like to keep things special. 

 
P.S.  I haven't been posting much because I am having major internet problems at home and it just gets me way to frustrated to turn my computer on at night.
