I decided to make another necklace the other night using my Mom's old rosary from when she was a little girl. I still have no clue what I am doing when I make jewelry but I wore it to work the other day and I was grateful it didn't fall apart. Anyway...today here in NW Arkansas, it is an icy and snowy day and I am working from home because the schools are closed today. The fire is on and it is actually turning out to be a cozy nice morning. Stay warm!
That is what my husband asked me last week....I re-arranged the family room and he has a decorative metal bin next to his leather chair that he use to store his newspapers everyday. I got tired of looking at a pile of new papers and decided fill the bin (without telling him) with all of these.
I think it looks better than a messy bunch of new papers..right? He will get over it!
I guess I have a thing for vintage autograph books and I didn't realize how many I had. I am drawn to the penmanship of the past and I am in awe of how much detail would go into the handwriting. Why don't we still write like that? Computers are great but it is a shame that they have replaced such beautiful correspondence. My daughter Lily-Grace loves to look at all of my books(I think she is going to be my antique lover....she is so careful with them....It is very cute) and the other day we sat on the floor and I read them to her. Since they were laying on the floor and they looked so pretty just sitting there, I had to snap a few photos of them. I hope you enjoy.
I scheduled Lucy's one year photos before Christmas and I am now getting around to ordering them....Just look at this sweet photo of her, it almost doesn't look real. I had the photographer (Wendy Dunn in case anyone is wondering) tint her cheeks and bow. I am so in love with this photo and I can't wait to display it in our home. Maybe I need to use this image in one of my art pieces...hmmmm...need to think about that. Here are a few more photos that I also like.

I bought these petticoats and silk nightie before the holidays and I finally pulled them out of the bag to take a closer look at them and I am in love all over. Just look at the lush ruffles....I love them, especially the blue one. If I had my own craft space, they would be hanging on the wall or from the ceiling. A girl can dream....right? If I hung them in my current craft space, they would take up the entire space (if you don't know, I use the closet under the stairs as my craft space). Until I have my own space, I am going to tuck them away for something special (and I have absolutely no where to put them!). Have a great day.

Am I the last person to find out about cool things? I had no clue what the heck Picnik was until I went to Silver Bella and everyone seemed to be talking about how much they loved the photo editing tool. So, I had to try and it and I love it too! I have been having fun editing my photos and adding all sorts of fun things to my photos. I love the Polaroid effect you can apply to your photos. Anyway, these are some of the fun things I brought home from MI. If you are from the South East MI area, I will tell you where I went. I dragged my mom to downtown Romeo and we went to Town Hall Antiques. We had a great time there and my mom who isn't an antique lover even bought a few treasures. We also went to I think it is in Utica (18 & VanDyke) the antique mall there...I think it is called Countryside (My how you forget when you don't live there anymore). I didn't buy much there...that place is hit or miss and it was pretty much a miss for me. You know where I had the best shopping? At my mom's house....look at all of the fun stuff she gave me. My mom received this bottle about 20 years ago from someone she worked with that went to Paris and she never wanted to use the perfume so it evaporated. Funny uh?
Look what she was using as rags....she was going to clean the window with this and I said what are you doing? I told her that I wanted wanted them and she looked at me a little funny and said you want my rags. They are way to pretty to use as rags...aren't they? I think I will use them as pockets for an apron.
These are the items I bought from Town Hall Antiques. My favorites are the calling cards with the lovely writing. I also love the coasters I bought and I think I am going to make Christmas ornaments out of them for next year. The holy cards are from my mom, I think I keep taking a few here and there when I go home. My Grandma collected over the years a pretty large stash of them, they are all so pretty and some are really old and others are in Polish.
I bought the cash book that was completely filled and tucked inside was a ton of handwritten pages with the most beautiful handwriting. It was a nice surprise when I came home to look at everything again.
There is no school again today and the entire family is home by a warm fire....I hope you have a nice warm day!
This is what my kiddos look like when we pack up car and head to MI. All of a sudden it was quiet in the car and I looked back and I noticed they were all sleeping at the same time. I had to take a photo of them, so cute! I love how Olivia and Lily-Grace are sleeping on one another. If I could bottle those moments and open them up when they were bigger. How fun would that be. Anyway, we had a great time with family and friends and my favorite moment was ice skating with my girls in downtown Detroit. Here are a few photos. This is going to be short, we had a snow day today and the kids were off school as well as my husband. Needless to say I am going to scream if there is no school tomorrow. I work harder at home than I do at work. I am worn out!
