A blog break

I am going to take a break for a couple of weeks from my blog.  My family and I are headed back to the Detroit area for Lucy's baptism and to Northern MI to relax at our cabin.  I am excited to not have to think about work and just hang out with my family.  Oh yes....and visit some of my favorite antique shops. 

These are the first roses from my backyard and they smell like heaven.  All I have to say is...thank goodness for my husband who keeps them alive for me all season long.  What would I do with out him?

Embellished apron

 

When I was on my last business trip I bought this fabulous green and white polka dot apron at one of the shops in the airport.  Yes, I know... you are probably thinking, you bought an apron at the airport?  Yep...it was to cute because it had three rows of ruffles on the bottom.  I can spot a ruffle a mile away!  I knew immediately that I had to have it and I thought it would be perfect to to embellish with some of my vintage linens.  I am wearing it right now and I am thinking to myself that I look pretty darn cute.

The joys of motherhood

 

I had a great time at one of my favorite antique stores on Mother's Day but I am sure I would of found more treasures if I was there alone. I had two of my girls nagging me to buy them stuffed animals from the little general store that was filled with toys, I had my husband following behind me so close I kept bumping into him and then I had my sweet little baby spit up all over me.  Ahh......the joys of motherhood.

 

Ruffles and more ruffles

 

I never ever find vintage dresses for little girls but guess what?  I found one for $8.00 not bad uh?  Funny thing is I didn't find it....my oldest daughter found it.  Yep, she is a chip off the old block!

 

Happy to be a mother....

 

I have to say that being a Mother is probably the one thing in my life that I am the most proud of (John if you are reading this, you are #2).  My children help me be a better person, constantly show me different ways of looking at the simplest of things, make me laugh, pick me up when I am sad, they make me feel like I can conquer the world...Oh I could keep going on and on.  I just wanted to say Happy Mother's day to all of you and I hope you have a wonderfulul day.  Tomorrow,  I am going to one of my favorite antique malls in Missouri.  Yep that is right, one husband, two girls and a baby will all be following me down the tight little aisles of an antique store....hummm, maybe I better rethink this?

Paper doll journal

 

Over the weekend I finished my portion of Holly's paper doll journal....I hope she likes it.  I could fill so many pages in her journal but we all agreed to only do one spread to keep it fun and easy.  I clipped on a couple of extra outfits on each page so my little lady has a few extra options.
