I bought a huge stack of vintage papers (there was other fun stuff in the pile and I will share that with you later) for $10.00 the other day and look what was in there....receipts from the late 1800's with the most beautiful penmanship. I wish I could write like that....don't you?
Look at this one above...it says drugs, medicines, books, wall papers, fancy goods, toilet articles & etc. Boy, I wish I could step back in time to go to that store to check out the fancy goods and wall paper. The receipt from the photo below is 1849, I think that might be one of the oldest items I have.
Lucy is calling me as well as five loads of laundry that I need to get caught up on. Have a great day.

You lucky girl and what a great deal! I used to work for the county recorder years ago and was lucky to see some very old documents with the most beautiful handwriting. I'm with you...I would LOVE to step back in time and experience that time period. What a fun post, thanks for sharing.

I do, indeed, wish my penmanship was that lovely. Beautiful pieces of ephemera. I'm the genealogy enthusiast in our family, so I spend a lot of time perusing old documents, with their perfectly formed letters.
Best Wishes,
Kay

What fun!
Beautiful writing ... and a chance to "look back" by reading the notes, receipts and everyday events.
Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely gorgeous paper! How lucky to find a whole stack of them. Have fun creating with them (I probably wouldn't have the heart to cut them, but that is a problem I keep having).

Funny I mentioned that on my last blog post! I have a bunch of old receipts from my great grandparents too, and I covet their penmanship. I often complain about how the art of fine penmanship is not taught in schools anymore. It is truly a lost art. Sad.
