a tweeny weenie break

 

I am headed off to New Orleans on a business trip this week and it is my first time away from Lucy.  It is kind of bitter sweet because I will miss her dearly but I have never been to New Orleans and I am kind of looking forward to it.  Since I am going there on business and I was in change of making the plans for everyone, we will be staying at the swanky W Hotel.  How about that!  I would love to not work and go shopping but the whole point is for me to work there.  Maybe I can find some time?  I am going there to conduct some research for my company.  If you have ever been in a focus group and wondered who is behind the glass watching you...well its me.  Anyway, enough about work...it is Sunday and I shouldn't even be thinking about it.  Isn't that photo of the baby sweet?  I bought it the other day and I just love chunky babies so it needed to come home with me.  I walked into my craft closet to get some scissors and I snapped this shot, I am using my cupcake stand to display some of my favorite things.

 

I get back home on Friday and the next day is the annual sub Easter egg hunt at my house.  There should be 150-200 people so I am going to be busy the next couple of days.  The week hasn't started and I will be happy when it is over.  Talk to you soon.

Journal pages

 

Here are some of the journal pages I have been working on.  The funny thing is, I really wanted to relax and work on them on Friday night but by the time I got everyone down for the night, I was way too tired.  I worked on them yesterday between skating practice, laundry, the grocer store and taking care of Lucy.  I wish I could just sit down and work on something for myself.  Oh well....I guess I just have to take what I can get.

   

I am having a wonderful time experimenting with using paints in my journal.

This is what I am going to be doing tonight

 

Tonight I am going to be working on this journal.  Lately, It seems like I keep getting pulled in every direction and no time to work on what I want to.  So tonight, I have big plans...I hope I don't get side tracked.

Do you ever feel a little guilty?

 

I had a few ugly hats that I bought just for the flowers but now that I have plucked them all off....I am feeling a bit guilty.  I should of taken a photo of the hats before because they were UGLY and now the flowers at least look pretty...right?  Now I just need to make something with them.

On Friday night I was able to carve out a little time to myself after the kids went to bed to do a little creating.  I bought the image last week at the flea market and I had to use it right away.  The image of the woman is so pretty by itself and I really didn't need to do much to it to create something beautiful. 

     

It is late and I need to get to bed......

Projects

 

I think this project will be featured in the upcoming spring issue of Somerset Life ...I just never know.  Anyway, I love to get boxes in the mail from Somerset Studios with my returned projects.  I was so happy to get this one back because I just love the image of this woman and now she is happily home.

I am so excited that my artwork was selected for the cover of Marie...what an honor!  Everyday after work, I anxiously come home to see if my advance copy is in the mail.  I hope it comes next week.  I am very excited (not because of me being on the cover...that is icing on the cake) for this issue because I just love anything about Marie Antoinette.  I can only image what wonderful photos and all of the eye candy that will be in that issue.  I have some more exciting news to share on the issue but I will wait until it is officially out on the newsstands.

Off to the flea market...yet again!

 

Last weekend I met up with a neighbor and we headed off to a couple of flea markets that were new to us.  I really pride myself in knowing where every single local antique store, flea market and thrift store is located.  When I found out from some friends about a couple of flea markets I didn't know about...well I HAD to go there ASAP.  What is a girl to do?  I am glad I went and here are the goodies I bought.  Don't you just love the photo above?  I think it was the silk lining of a vintage hat.  I am going to make the most beautiful collage with that wonderful image of the woman.  I can't wait to work on it...maybe this weekend.  My neighbor kept asking me, now what are you going to do with all of this stuff?  I would tell her and she just gave me an odd look and I am not sure if she got it.  On the way home, I thought to myself, I really need a friend who gets me...I just don't have any where I live.  Oh well!

       

Journal page

 

I am currently working on two journals, one inspired by paper dolls and the other journal inspired by images of beautiful women.  This was my first page in the journal and I have many more to show you but today I will just show you this one.  I used a craft knife and cut out about 20 pages to create a raised frame.  I set the image inside and then I placed a small piece of sheer fabric over top of the image.  I am so excited to be using more paints in my art and I am by no means an expert...I just need to keep practicing and refining my technique.  Whatever that might be?

 

I was going to show you the cover of the journal but my sweet little baby is calling me and I have to go.

I just couldn't resist.....

 

This photo makes me smile....Yesterday I was taking photos of Lucy and I had to show you the photo of her bum.  Isn't it cute?  She has a big L on her bum and one on her tee shirt.  I just love all her little folds she has.  Have a great day.

I have a partner in crime

 

I went to a new flea market with my daughter (Lily-Grace) and I think I have a new partner in crime.  She loves to go shopping with me and she looks at everything.  We both had a fun time at this booth trying on all of the vintage hats.  Here are a few goodies that went home with me....great old wire basket, vintage millinery and wonderful trims.  The last photo is a floral fabric box, it is so large I only took a photo of the top. 

       

On another note, click on this ....They made me sound like a very interesting person.  I had to read it twice and say to myself...is that me?
