My brother and sister-in-law are expecting their second child in February and I am so excited it is a girl! I am not going to be able to go home for the birth and meet her so I decided to make some extra special gifts to welcome the new baby. Since her favorite Auntie is not going to be there to welcome her, she needs a little Vintage Flair in her nursery. I am not sure if my sister-in-law reads my blog on a daily basis so I am not going to post all of the handmade goodies that we are giving her. I already told her I was going to make her a bulletin board with extra fabric I had so this is not a surprise. Look how cute it turned out.....I love it! Oh, I couldn't just give her an empty bulletin board so I had to make her a collage. I wrapped all the presents up and we are going to give them to her when we see them in MI. I hope she likes it! I will take photos of the other goodies and share them with you when I get back.
I am sitting here writing this post in my robe and fuzzy slippers waiting for the doctor to call to confirm appointments for my daughter and myself. I have the worst soar throat and my head just aches and my daughter has the same symptoms. We make quite the pair!
I did manage to wrap more presents yesterday after sleeping much of the day. Here are some more photos. Below is left over flocked wrapping paper from last year that I bought at Target. I wish they would of had more brighter colors this year. I did buy some in bronze or gold (it is waiting for me at my mom's house, that is why I can't remember. It didn't fit in my suitcase last time I was home). I have a little piece left over and I need to use it in a project.
This is for a special little girl and I am sure she is going to love how sparkly it is. My girls loved it.
This is how Santa wraps presents for my girls...Isn't he creative? Each of my girls gets an initial on their present so they know which one is theirs. We started this tradition when my oldest daughter was learning to read and we just carried on the tradition. It looks so pretty when all of the presents are wrapped and sitting under the tree just waiting to be torn open. I have more to wrap when I arrive in MI but this is a start. Did you see the vintage Santa wrapping paper at Joann's? It is so sweet, I think I bought three rolls. I will take a photo of it when I get to my moms.
I am so sorry that I have been so distant....I am trying to get everything all ready for Christmas. I am sure you all know what I mean. It feels like time is flying by and I have so many loose ends to finish up before we leave to go back to Michigan. This morning I wrapped a few presents for some special people in my life.
I photo copied one of my favorite vintage sheet music covers and made paper ribbons out of the photo copies. I had a good time making them and I couldn't stop. I have to take these presents back to Michigan with us and after 16 hours in car, I am not sure how they look after all of that.
It really is the simple things in life that just make me happy! How do you wrap your presents for the holidays? I would love to see....
Since I bought one vintage dress for my daughter for Christmas I have been on the look out for another one for my other daughter. I have to keep things equal around here...If not, it causes big problems. I am sure you know what I mean. If you remember a couple months ago I posted this dress that I found. Well look at the other one I found at a local used clothing shop (at a great price)...I think I am in love!
Just look at the layers and layers of tulle. I am in heaven! Here is a shot of the front of the dress. Did you notice the original millinery flowers are STILL attached. Oh my goodness.
I wonder who wore this dress and if she was going to the prom or an event? I bet she was the prettiest and most sophisticated girl at the party. I can't imagine any other vision. Can you? I also wish it fit me (it must be a size 2, it is way tiny), I think I would wear it around the house. That might scare my hubby. How much fun would it be to go to an event wearing such a wonderful dress arriving in a vintage car. I need to stop dreaming.....Just look at the back of the dress, I love the pink satin sash.
Now I only have to figure out which daughter gets what dress. A good problem to have. I am off to get my girls ready for the ice show today. They have two performances and do you know what that means?....I am not able to get anything done today. Oh well. Right? Have a productive Saturday for me!
Last week I needed to submit a photo of myself to Somerset Studios for the Bonnes Vivants. I am not quite sure what to make of that? I normally don't like to look at photos of myself. (look at all of my wrinkles around my eyes!...OH MY) Who does? Right? I really liked that I saw so many photos of all you girls at Silver Bella. It is so nice to put a face with a name. So here we go....This is me. Nice to meet you all.
I am home from my business trip and it was a great trip because I went back to Detroit so I was also able to see my family. It is so nice to go back home! I did some Christmas shopping for the kids as well as myself while I was gone. Look at these wonderful vintage ornaments I bought. I have a bunch of these ornaments in apothecary jars and these wouldn't fit so I just placed them in this wire basket.
For the girls who live in MI, I went to Needful Things in Flint and it use to be great...but I don't think it was as good as it use to be. I thought the prices were a bit high, maybe I am just use to all of my junk stores now? I did find one major deal there though....a full box of millinery flowers for $5.00. Pretty lucky uh?
I love these images of women. I thought I could use them for something in the future.
Look at this woman on the need case, don't you just love her hair?
I went to one thrift store and look what I found, she was in her original plastic cloche. I didn't need her but she was only $3.00 and she is in prefect condition so one of my girls will get her for Christmas from their Momma.
I found this vintage wrapping paper at another antique store for $1.50. I love bargains.
On another note...I have to say thanks to Heather for giving us all the tip on these. I bought a bunch of them and they are now on our tree and I love them! I went to Target and they have a little bit of glass glass this year and I bought the snowflakes for $1.99. I have been adorning my house with them and I am going back to get more.
Just one more thing...My daughter and I went to Hanna Montanna last night in Little Rock and we had a blast. It was a lot of fun and my daughter danced the ENTIRE time and screamed. Funny uh? Look at her outfit for the concert. I don't think I was this cool at her age. It was all her idea to put her hat off to the side. I look at this photo and she looks SO big. Oh my. I am off to get our house back together, it is a mess. Have a great Sunday.
