Vintage Flair

So long for a while....

I am off on vacation to northern MI.  As many of you might know we live in Arkansas but we still own our cottage in MI.  All of our family lives there and we haven't seen them since Christmas.  We are all very excited to go back and hang out by the water and visit with friends and family.  Of course...I will be shopping at the local antique stores while I am there. I am hoping to find a few things to take back home with me.  We are driving and it takes about 15 hours (2 kids, a dog and my husband) so think of good thoughts for me.  I don't have to say any more.  I am going to miss you....I do have a blackberry so I will still be connected.  I will have to hide it from my husband!  Talk to you soon.

A nice little treat in the mail

In the mist of a pile of bills the other day, I received this little wonderful bundle from Heather.  I sent her some of my moo cards and she sent me a little thank you.  I am impressed that she used pretty floral cotton fabric as a ribbon.  I am so going to copy that.  It is so nice to get happy mail....don't you agree!

   

Garage sale over the weekend

On Saturday my daughter pointed out a garage sale and we decided to stop.  Ever since the last garage sale I took her to, she is addicted.  She seems to think she can find great things at everyone....We all know that is not the case.  You either hit the jack pot or you are walking out of there very fast.  This is what I bought (I spent $2.00) and my daughter was bummed there were no kid stuff there.  Funny! I am going to use them to store my crafting odds and ends.

Oh do I love to create....even if I am sick!

I have not been feeling great since Sunday.  I went to the doctor yesterday and he told me that I had step throat and to go home from work because I was contagious.  I hope and pry that my little ones do not catch this.  I pretty much slept all day and today I am feeling some what better.  I work full time and I am NEVER home alone.  It is so weird to be in the house without kids running all over.  I watched all of the TV morning shows I am never able to watch and after that I said to myself OK what do I do now?  I am so use to being on the go, it is hard for me to just relax.  I decided to just do one little craft project and then I would go back to laying on the sofa.  Well... here is my embellished journal creation.  I am off to take a nap. 

    

Vintage bedding

I went to my local thrift store last week and I found a bunch of vintage bedding.  I think I spent $5.00 total!  I already washed them and put them on my youngest daughters bed.  She is quite happy with them. They are so soft and I just love the roses on them.  I was so excited that I found a his pillow sham and I searched and searched to find the her match but no luck.  I will keep checking back to see if I can find it.

Much needed organization

My little craft studio (AKA the hall closet) is so small in space.  I am happy to have a little nook of my own even if it is SMALL!  I had a vintage dress hanging on the back of the door and I decided I needed to use that valuable space for some much need organization.  I have plenty of space to store all of my craft supplies but I am having trouble displaying all of my pretty stuff.  I want it out and displayed because it inspires me to want to create great things.  I am happy how it turned out.  Oh...the pretty cabinet card is of my Grandma when she was in a wedding.  I love that photo of her.

Swaps and trades

I guess I have been busy....

I am participating in the scavenger hunt swap with Brieanne over at For the love of vintage and here is a sneak speak at what I am sending.  I have never participated in a swap before so I hope my partner likes everything.  It is kinda hard to pick stuff out for someone you don't know.  You know what I mean?                                        

I also did a trade with Holly and I sent her a lamp shade kit.  She posted it on her blog if you want to see what it looks like. I am happy to see that she likes everything.  I am planning on selling a few lamp shade trim kits when I get back from vacation.  I will post what Holly sent me in another post.  I also did a trade with Dede and this is what I sent her. I haven't herd if she likes it.....I hope she does.  I am off to the movies with my little ladies.  Have a great Saturday. 

Little project the other night

This is just a quick little post....I made this the other night when everyone was a sleep and I had a little alone time.  I can't seem to get enough of that! 

Craftin with my girl

I am learning that my oldest daughter is a chip off the old block.  She LOVES to do any sort of creative project.  Lately I have been collecting vintage hats and when I bring them home my daughter is sad that they are not for her.  I told her that she and I would make a hat just for her.  For the past two weeks, she has asked me daily about when are we going to make her hat?  She even drew a sketch how her hat should look.  She is so funny!  Last night before bed we finally worked on her hat.  I had a vintage straw hat that I was not going to use. My daughter made the tissue paper flowers while I hot glued the crepe paper onto the hat.  Needless to say...she is so excited about her creation and I hope you will be too!

My visit to a new antique mall

Below are the goodies that I bought on Mother's day.  I went to the best antique mall ever.  If you live near Joplin, MO you need to visit the Southside Antique Mall.  I would of bought more but shopping with two kids and a husband really slows you down!  Every booth was just as wonderful as the next.  I am planning on taking my girlfriend back there with me so we can really look at EVERYTHING.  My favorite item I bought is the vintage chocolate tin with the sweet little cherubs on the top.  Enjoy.
